An investigation was initiated on Feb. 11 when Montgomery County detectives were contacted by U.S Capitol police regarding 16 harassing voicemail messages left at the Congresswoman’s Glenside office in Cheltenham Township, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.
The messages continued beyond the initial report, and in total, 19 harassing messages were left from Feb. 10 to Feb. 18, authorities said.
The phone number was traced to Stephen M. Cilurso, 68, of Aldan, PA (Delaware County), who does not live in Congresswoman Dean’s district, authorities said.
The voicemail messages contained vulgar, obscene, and sexually explicit language directed at Rep. Dean, as well as several that referenced the Proud Boys and the Congresswoman’s testimony during the second impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, the DA's office said.
Despite being advised by detectives to stop contacting Rep. Dean, Cilurso sent one last harassing voicemail message, the DA's office said.
Cilurso was charged with one misdemeanor count of harassment and one summary count of harassment.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Christopher Cerski and released on unsecured bail and ordered not to contact Rep. Dean.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 22, 2021, at 10:15 am before Magisterial District Judge Cerski.
Rep. Dean serves Pennsylvania's fourth congressional district, and assumed office on January 3, 2019, her website says.
